There will be three components to the training.

Each component will comprise one third of the total time engaged in the project:

  • Training in Bible teaching, preaching, and Christian ministry.

  • Doing Bible teaching ministry and getting one-to-one feedback and mentoring.

  • Doing behind-the-scenes practical ministry

Timeframe

  • Grace City aims to be running the Samurai Project from April 2016.
The aim will be to begin with a soft start, whereby we run the project for the first year focusing on people already within Grace City, and try to produce a product which others look at and can see the value in.
After this initial year, then the project could be extended and broadened.
Other churches and organisations in Tokyo may also be keen to participate in the Samurai Project from year 2 onwards.

Training in Bible Teaching, Preaching, Christian Servant-Leadership.

  • The participants will be trained such that they are able to teach the Bible. To do this, one day a week all the participants will gather together for a day of training.

  • Over the course of the year, the participants will cover Mark`s Gospel in depth, as well as a Bible overview, Christian history, Christian doctrine, Christian ethics, lifestyle issues, Work, Church-planting, and receive training and feedback in Preaching, evangelism, and Christian leadership.

Doing Bible Teaching Ministry and Getting One-to-One Feedback and Mentoring.

  • The participants will be trained such that they are able to teach the Bible. To do this, one day a week all the participants will gather together for a day of training.

Doing behind-the-scenes practical ministry

  • The participants will do some church related admin and practical service activities.

  • For example, setting up the church venue for the Sunday meeting, or doing the church financial accounts, or helping with the church welcome team, or sound team, or buying food for church events, or organizing food distribution for homeless project, or organizing aid distribution for tsunami affected areas.

Housing

  • Housing is completely dependent upon who takes part in the project.

  • If single men take part, then we could rent (a single) relatively low cost apartment(s) in central Tokyo, the area where Grace City is targeting.

  • The participants could all live in the same apartment.

  • However, other people may well already have an apartment, or not want to live with others, and still others may be married, so housing would need to fit the needs and desires of those taking part.
